Clipboard case labels: separate blocked, failed and not run
“It did not paste” can mean an untried case, an ineligible format, or an observed mismatch. This labeler helps you describe the boundary before sending a support note. Choose only what you actually observed. The initial record is not run; this page does not test either Mac.
Build a case label
The choices below are generic states, not copied content. They stay in this page. You can select the generated note and place it in your own private test log.
Not run
What each label means
| Label | Evidence needed | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Not run | No deliberate case has been performed. | Choose a harmless marker and a suitable destination app. |
| Blocked | A known format or readiness prerequisite is missing. | Resolve that prerequisite before interpreting a paste result. |
| Needs investigation | The expected fresh item was not observed in one case. | Record source, destination and sequence; isolate one variable. |
| Observed | You personally saw the expected output. | Keep the scope narrow. One case does not validate every format or device. |
Check the job before the network
For a fresh Deskferry handoff, first try a local copy and paste with disposable text. Then select the same active trusted group on both Macs, enable sync, and confirm a reachable local network and ready peer. Make a new copy after readiness is established. Ordinary startup, reconnection or resuming sync does not promise to replay older copies.
Text and image pixels are available on Free. Finder files and videos require the group administrator's Pro or Max entitlement; folders require Max. Paste image pixels into an image-capable app. Paste a Finder file into a destination folder and open it there: seeing a filename in a text editor is insufficient. Use the Deskferry Mac clipboard sync guide for pairing, format and privacy settings.
Looking for yesterday's copy follows a different path. Deskferry retains local encrypted history on each Mac; sync does not merge two history lists or permit browsing the other Mac's retained list. All plans can browse and search retained summaries and thumbnails. Free full-item opening and re-copying is limited to the globally newest 20 retained items across all content types combined. Pro and Max remove that count cap; retention and storage settings still apply. See the local clipboard history guide.
